As Zanzibar go for polls re-runs tomorrow, Global Peace Foundation Tanzania Chapter has urged isles citizens to preserve peace and harmony when voting their leaders of choice.
Speaking to newsmen recently on Zanzibar election, GPF Country Director, Martha Nghambi said GPF as organization that advocate for peace would like to take such an opportunity to urge Zanzibarians to maintain peace and harmony when voting and while waiting for the announcement of the results.
Nghambi stressed that it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that peace is maintained for the betterment of the country and its development.
GPF has been working hard to preach and ensure that peace and harmony becomes one of the major factors that are thoroughly regarded in prospering the everyday lives.
“We recently had a meeting in Zanzibar that brought all religious leaders in a move to preach peace as the isles was preparing for the polls re-run,” she said.
She however urged the isles residents to refrain from any form of violence especially this time when they decide who should represent them in fostering about their concerns.
The GPF County Director also called the isles residents to have patience when the Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) tally the election results before declaring winners.
